Water Park at Monon Community Center – Carmel

monon community center water park 2

I am most proud of all of the  wonderful parks aquatic centers that Indianapolis and the surrounding  cities/areas offer. If you know anything about our family, you know that when  poolsummer hits, we do everything we can to be at the pool every day (only when it’s  not raining). For that reason, we joined the YMCA and we have unlimited access  to their swimming pools! Even so, I still frequent the Indy Parks Pools: Perry  Park, Broad Ripple Park and Sahm Pool and my new favorite isn’t an Indy Park,  it’s in Carmel but wow, I love it!

Until  August 8th, the outdoor water park is open from 11am-7pm Sunday through Wednesday and from 11am to 8pm Thursday through Saturday. August 9th through  September 5th the hours are Monday through Thursday, 10am-1pm and 4pm-7pm and  Friday until 8pm. Saturday from 11am to 8pm and Sunday 11am-7pm. Admission is $8  for adults16 and up, $5 for seniors and children. Ages 2 and under are  free!

My  favorite part of any water park is the lazy river. MCC has one of those! The  teenagers I care for love water slides and MCC does not disappoint: there are  two large water slides and a quick slide that plunges into a deep pool. Since  Lulu is a beginning swimmer we have really taken advantage of the zero depth  entry pool that has a water playground as well as the zero depth entry kiddie  pool. The kiddie area has a monon community center water parksand area that the kids can play in (I pray this  isnt something that Lulu likes to do in the future, ick!). If your kids like to  swim laps or you just want to make them swim laps before nap time, there are  swimming lanes adjoining the zero depth pool.

We pack our own little picnic lunch most days and stake out a picnic table (there  are plenty) but if you just want to relax, the food at the concession stand is  delicious! You’ll smell the burgers being grilled as you walk up to the park and  the prices aren’t too bad either.

A  few little secrets or hints. If you wait until two hours before close, the entry  fee is only $4 per person. Also, we use the family dressing rooms to get ready  before and after swimming. As you can imagine, this is a popular idea so we end  up waiting in line a pool2lot. Yesterday we discovered that there are two family  dressing rooms/restrooms right outside of the park gates! No line when we were  there! Another place to get dressed in inside the actual Community Center. There  are locker rooms available right inside the door! AND nicer  showers!

What  is your favorite pool to hang out at on a hot summer day?
